HISTORY

Project Russia was born in 1993, when we had the idea of having a work team of evangelism in Russia for short periods of time. So we started asking God for new directions in this work. The idea was taking form until 1995, when missionaries Andre and Salomao (Director of the Project) went to a leadership school in Belo Horizonte-Brazil. One of the requirements to graduate was the elaboration of a project at least 2 years long. After the elaboration of the Project, we started following the steps established on it. 1996 was our first trip to Russia to gather information and establish our first contacts. After returning, we organized a work team and in the beginning of 97, we went to the United States to be trained specifically to work among Slavic People, in the Central Office of YWAM Slavic Ministries. During this time, we were also dedicated learning English. Then in January 1998, the team went over to Russia. We spent the first year learning to speak Russian as well as setting up our relationship with the Evangelic Church leaders in Moscow. We also tried to serve the churches with teaching and evangelism and other things, as much it was possible.
