OUR
GOAL
Like
all the other YWAM Bases around the world, we are implanting a Missionary
Base that will act in three areas:
TRAINING
- Preparing missionaries to reach out the others. We have focused our
efforts to form Russian workers, training and sending them to reach
their own nation for Jesus Christ. It is not our intention to set a
Foreign Mission in Russia, but rather a Mission of Russians. In the
summer of 1998, we promoted a Summer Bible School with the participation
of fifteen students. In 99, we decided to realize our first Discipleship
and Training School (DTS). We had thirteen students. Now we are running
our fifth DTS and twelve out of all the students we had are now serving
full time! Since then, we offer this school twice a year.
DTS-The
Discipleship and Training School proposes to prepare Gospel
messengers, helping people to know God in a deeper way. The aim is to
form Christian characters while Biblical relationships are established
between student and God, the student and his/her family and friends.
The emphasis is the development of a daily walk with God instead of
a bunch of information. This school is the entry to YWAM. During the
time of studies, essential principles of a Christian life are taught
such as: Meditation, Intercessory Prayer, and Evangelism. Twice a year,
for a period of 5 months, we have DTS; with 3 months of theoretical
teaching and 2 months of practical training. This gives the students
opportunities to travel to other states and neighboring countries. The
students have one day off for resting. On the workdays, there are studies,
maintenance of the school (which is part of the training) and evangelism.
The theoretical part includes: Evangelism, Christian behavior, Ethics
and Relationship; Intercession, Meditation on the Bible; Communion with
a group (six to eight people); as well as Spiritual assistance in an
intense counseling time with a counselor. Everything is to prepare one’s
character, to know God and learn how to make Him known by those who
don’t have Jesus as their Savior. The classes and studies are given
by many preachers and teachers from YWAM Bases and from other Missions.The
training period includes work in churches and performing dramas on the
streets, squares, schools, hospitals, prisons, etc.
EVANGELISM
– Sharing the Gospel message. We have sent work teams to
inner Russia in order to help small churches with evangelism. The teams
go to streets, schools and theaters preaching the Gospel through may
strategies God has given us, such as: dramas, dance, plays, worshiping
and personal evangelism. Many Russians have accepted Jesus through these
methods of evangelism. According to the raise of our Russian workers
we will focus the non-reached people in Russia.
MERCY
– Showing God’s love through material help. We already started with
a snack distribution for the Moscow children in the streets. We are
still very limited in this work because of the lack of resources and
correct structure to recover those children. We intend, also, to work
with alcoholics, one of the worst social problems in the country. Today,
we can count on six workers with exclusive dedication with alcoholics.
